Whataburger

Whataburger Texas Patty Melt Two American Beef Patties, Grilled Onions, Two slices of Monterrey Jack cheese and Creamy Pepper Sauce $4.94 Living in Texas, it is only natural that I at some point go to Whataburger. Whataburger almost has a cult like following among most Texans, and while I'm not saying that it's got bad food, I think some people OVER hype the burgers here. When deciding on what to eat, the most popular burger that most people will tell you to go with at Whataburger is the Patty Melt, and to give Whataburger credit, that IS their best thing since the A1 Thick and Hearty is no longer there. The Patty Melt is of course served on toast, which tastes amazing being thrown on to the same grill they grill the meat on so it sucks up so much grease and flavor that the bread is one of the best parts of the whole burger. Moving on to the toppings, the grilled onions are so-so, they're basic fast food quality. The slices of Monterrey Jack are similar to t

Southwell's Hamburger Grill

Southwell's Hamburger Grill Houston, TX Bacon Cheeseburger Mayo, Mustard, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, and Onions with American Cheese and Bacon. $6.40 For this week's burger trip, I decided to try out Southwell's Hamburger Grill in Houston, TX. Now I have lived in Houston my whole life and I have never heard about his place (despite it having 4 locations in the Houston area) until I looked through a burger suggestion post on Facebook, and frankly, I probably could have gone the rest of my life without hearing about it. Now before anyone jumps to any super negative conclusions, the burger wasn't "bad". It just was not what I was looking for. The meat was a pretty good size and was pretty juicy but didn't really have any seasoning, the bun seemed to be a typical hamburger bun out of a package, and the cheese seemed to be just a regular old slice of American cheese thrown on at the last parts of the grilling process. I didn't like how

P. Terry's Burger Stand

P. Terry's Burger Stand Austin, TX Cheeseburger Natural Black Angus Beef Patty, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Special Sauce $2.85 During a trip to Austin, I decided to stop by an Austin exclusive burger stand chain that I was told by a coworker was a pretty good place, and while my wallet thanked me for the least expensive meal of the trip, my stomach did not. The burger was very small (which one might expect for not even breaking $3), but it was not very filling as far as meals go, now of course once you add in the fries and milkshake it was good, but burger wise, very small. The meat tasted like basic fast food meat and wouldn't blow any minds in the burger community so it was hard to see what was the big draw of the place. The secret sauce is a combination of mild Russian dressing and american cheese melted together, which I wouldn't say was "bad" but it was so slathered on that the sauce overpowered everything else so I was just tasting t

Chunky's Burgers

Chunky's Burgers San Antonio, TX Texas Kicker & Hickory Burger (Texas Kicker) Homemade Queso, Bacon, Bottle Caps, on Texas Toast. (Hickory Burger) Tangy BBQ Sauce, Onion Rings, Cheese, and Bacon (Texas Kicker) $7.19 (Hickory Burger) $7.59 On my recent trip to San Antonio, I made sure to go to a burger place that I was familiar with from YEARS and years. ago . Chunky's Burgers for anyone who doesn't know, was a burger place that was featured on Man vs. Food for having one of the hottest burgers in country called "The Four Horsemen". The Four Horsemen burger has 4 different spice qualities on it being: Jalapeno and Serrano peppers, Habanero sauce,, and the Ghost (Jolokia) pepper. It is crazy hot, and while I myself would never eat it, I had two roommates who attempted it years ago and got physically sick doing it, it was funny as I was there enjoying my nice cheeseburger, but I digress, that's not why we are here. This time, when I hit Chunky&#
