Bourbon Burger
Sweet Bourbon Sauce, Smokehouse Bacon, Bourbon Caramelized Onions, Blue Cheese.

For this week, I thought I would bounce back from the bad burger with a place that since childhood, I always loved burgers from, but this time I thought I would get one of their signature burgers, which I have to say was met with mixed reviews.
So before we start, I love Fuddruckers, and I think their regular burgers are probably on par with some places' signature and creative burgers, but when Fuddruckers tries to get creative, that seems to be where things start to go wrong. Sometimes, less is better.
The bread (which is the same as a regular burger) is soft and tastes fresh, so there is no negative issues there. The meat (which is also the same as a regular burger) is very flavorful and while it doesn't seem to have much seasoning on it, it is still a great meat.
So now, we deviate from the regular burger and it goes down hill from here. The caramelized onions which is a part that I always look forward to on any burger were very rubbery in texture here and was almost like chewing gum. The bourbon sauce tasted like normal BBQ sauce, which I'm not saying is bad, but I am expecting something better if you're going to market it as "sweet bourbon sauce". Lastly, the bacon was so so. It was crispy in parts, and not crispy in parts, it was very thin, but as you can see from the burger, they gave me quite a bit, so I can't complain too much on that.
The burger was in my opinion, very pricey for what it was, I would never pay $8 for a burger of this quality or this size if I didn't have to. All in all, I would stick to the regular burgers that I love here in the future.

VERDICT: 3 out of 5 Stars.

And so the Chase continues…

Walden War-Tejas Cafe

Tejas Cafe (Mariel's Deli) & (Walden Market) Montgomery, TX Tejas Burger Cheese, Jalapenos, Onions, Cilanto & Chipotle Mayo on a Jalapeno Bun (with Ketchup at Tejas Cafe Walden Market) $7 For this week, I had a friend recommend me a place to go but when looking up the place, I found that there were two of the same name on the same road and when I couldn't get a hold of said friend, I had a very tough decision to make. I either tried one and hoped it was the right one, or I TRY THEM BOTH. I got both, and therefore we have the War on Walden Road between the Two Tejas Cafes. Now both Tejas Cafes are within Shell gast stations on Walden road, one in the Shell that has "Mariel's Deli" and one that has "Walden Market". Before I start, I can tell there is some skepticism, "You want me to eat gas station food?" Trust me, I had THE SAME THOUGHT before I was led to this place, but holy shit was I wrong. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Ri...

Southwell's Hamburger Grill

Southwell's Hamburger Grill Houston, TX Bacon Cheeseburger Mayo, Mustard, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, and Onions with American Cheese and Bacon. $6.40 For this week's burger trip, I decided to try out Southwell's Hamburger Grill in Houston, TX. Now I have lived in Houston my whole life and I have never heard about his place (despite it having 4 locations in the Houston area) until I looked through a burger suggestion post on Facebook, and frankly, I probably could have gone the rest of my life without hearing about it. Now before anyone jumps to any super negative conclusions, the burger wasn't "bad". It just was not what I was looking for. The meat was a pretty good size and was pretty juicy but didn't really have any seasoning, the bun seemed to be a typical hamburger bun out of a package, and the cheese seemed to be just a regular old slice of American cheese thrown on at the last parts of the grilling process. I didn't like how...

Bernie's Burger Bus

Bernie's Burger Bus Bellaire, TX Hot Cheeto Burger 2 3 oz Patties, Bacon, American Cheese, Tabasco Infused Onion Strips on top of Spicy Mac n Cheese Encrusted in Flaming Hot Cheetos with Homemade Hot Sauce $9.99 If you happen to go to Bernie's Burger Bus, the first thing you need to do is ask about their "secret" menu. That's where you will find this bad boy. For some reason, left off the regular menu, even though it could easily be called "The Hot Teacher", the server told me that this was at one point a limited time item, that got such popularity they still serve it. To start off, this burger definitely deserves a 5 for it's creativity. In lieu of buns, they instead grind up hot cheetos into a coat that they form around mac and cheese and voila, you have 2 Hot Cheeto patties with Mac n Cheese in them. That however, does seem to be a bit of the issue for them, the "buns" themselves seem to overtake the whole burger and most b...
