The Belgian-Two smashed patties, smoked gouda, crispy onions, chopped bacon, lettuce, garlic peppercorn aioli
Nash Vegas-Sweet Potato bun, pimento cheese, crispy tobacco onions, bbq sauce
$11.99 each

Over the past few weeks, I have been very busy with work and then on vacation road tripping to Nashville, Tennessee. So naturally on this road trip I had to get some burgers, and I decided to get multiple burgers at each stop to make up for all the weeks that I missed.
The first burger I tried was The Belgian. The Belgian was an interesting burger, and let me start by saying the patties done here are cooked VERY well. M.L. Rose definitely knows how to cook and season their meat. I was a HUGE fan of their crispy onions, they were just crisp enough to still have flavor and chopped into a size that worked perfectly for being a topping on a burger. The Belgian however did come with it's flaws. The garlic peppercorn aioli was in my opinion, not the best spread that could have gone on this burger. It gave the burger a sour taste which while may be a preference to some, I don't feel would really qualify it for the "perfect burger".
The second burger I tasted was met with even more mediocrity. I took a chance on this burger due to it's interesting description and while the taste was interesting, it just didn't wow me. For those of you who don't know, tobacco onions are thinly sliced onions that are fried in flour and cayenne pepper. I had never encountered these before, so this burger made it to the must try list. Now, while this burger probably had the potential to be a great burger, it did not come out that way on my plate. The sweet potato bun was hard, and the pimento cheese tasted off. Now like the Belgian, the meat was cooked to perfection, giving it a bounce back in points, but overall could not save it.

VERDICT:  (Belgian) 3.5 out of 5 Stars.
VERDICT:  (Nash Vegas) 2.5 out of 5 Stars.

And so the Chase continues…

The Dugout

The Dugout Texarkana, Arkansas Double Header & The Slugger Double Header-2 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Single Patty The Slugger-Single with Cheddar Cheese, Grilled Pineapple, Bang Bang Sauce, served on a White Bun $8.99 (Double Header), $6.29 (The Slugger) Over the past few weeks, I have been very busy with work and then on vacation road tripping to Nashville, Tennessee. So naturally on this road trip I had to get some burgers, and I decided to get multiple burgers at each stop to make up for all the weeks that I missed. The first burger I tried was the Double Header. In the easiest way to describe it, this was a burger patty smashed between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches. Now this doesn't seem like the most creative burger in the world, but it was FUN burger. And it was REALLY good. The Dugout is a hidden gem in Texarkana, their burgers are great! Now while I would love to give this burger a lot of points, I have to take into consideratio...

Walden War-Tejas Cafe

Tejas Cafe (Mariel's Deli) & (Walden Market) Montgomery, TX Tejas Burger Cheese, Jalapenos, Onions, Cilanto & Chipotle Mayo on a Jalapeno Bun (with Ketchup at Tejas Cafe Walden Market) $7 For this week, I had a friend recommend me a place to go but when looking up the place, I found that there were two of the same name on the same road and when I couldn't get a hold of said friend, I had a very tough decision to make. I either tried one and hoped it was the right one, or I TRY THEM BOTH. I got both, and therefore we have the War on Walden Road between the Two Tejas Cafes. Now both Tejas Cafes are within Shell gast stations on Walden road, one in the Shell that has "Mariel's Deli" and one that has "Walden Market". Before I start, I can tell there is some skepticism, "You want me to eat gas station food?" Trust me, I had THE SAME THOUGHT before I was led to this place, but holy shit was I wrong. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Ri...

Lord's Kitchen

Lord's Kitchen San Antonio, TX 1/2 lb Cheeseburger Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Onion $10.25 I usually love my trips out of town because I get to go to a burger place that I don't have access to on a daily basis within my local area, but instead I was left with a severe feeling of disappointment on my drive home after eating a burger from the Lord's Kitchen. I opted to go with a regular cheeseburger because I wanted a full meal of fries and a drink and looking back now, I should maybe have gotten a specialty burger instead. The toppings that came on this burger were all the average things that you would expect from a burger place and it didn't taste like they were high quality, now they did not taste like they were of bad quality, just an average kind of taste. The meat, which I feel like should be the thing that you should take pride on, was bland. It honestly tasted to me like a burger that one may find at a drive thru like Burger King or Wend...
