Now while I REALLY REALLY do try to stay away from the big giant burger chains, it just so happened that me and my fiance were craving some Red Robin steak fries and I couldn't resist such an easy pitch being thrown to me, so here we go.
Red Robin has SOOOOO many choices and A LOT of creativity. If I was grading on the creativity of their menu, they get 5 out of 5, and they are ALWAYS coming up with new stuff, but to be fair I decided to do one of their regular menu items instead of something that could be gone next week and the one I landed on was the Burnin' Love Burger.
As you can tell by the lineup on this burger.....it's gonna be hot, and boy was it. The Jalapeno coins are the all-stars of this burger because they really stuff them in there so you get some on every bite and while they aren't great by themselves, when you put them in a burger it really does add some kick and flavor. While we are on the spice, we can discuss the salsa. The salsa was pretty good, but it honestly got lost in the burger. All the heat you were getting in your mouth was from the jalapeno coins, so the salsa was literally a non factor on the burger, but I get it, it goes with the theme so it's there.
The lettuce and tomatoes were pointless. Come on, we know what this burger is about, quit trying to fluff it.
Honestly, I forgot this burger had chipotle aioli on it till I was halfway through and jotting down notes. The cooks either didn't put enough, or the flavor is so weak that it just get's lost in the shuffle with everything else, honestly they can just lose that off the burger.
Red Robin does their meat correctly. Had great seasoning, was very juicy and full of flavor, just all around what I was looking for in a burger patty. Was is the best I ever had? Of course not, but Red Robin is a nationwide chain for a reason. The last thing this burger has that merits any discussion is the Jalapeno Cornmeal Kaiser Bun. I have never encountered one of those in my life, and while it doesn't crack my top list of burger buns it was an interesting change to have instead of a regular bun so I am kinda of indifferent to that.
VERDICT: 3.5 out of 5 Stars.
And so the Chase continues…
