Buffalo Run

Buffalo Run
Spring, TX
Lone Star Burger
Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles, Pepper Jack Cheese, Bacon, Fresh Jalapenos, on a Sourdough Jalapeno Bun
$10.99

*I apologize for the late post, I was in Dallas for the weekend so I didn't get to post at my regular times. On the plus side, there will be some yummy Dallas based burgers coming up in the next couple weeks so keep an eye out!

This week I decided to keep it local and try a new(er) place that I have heard GREAT things about their crawfish, but not so much on the rest of their food and while I was not disappointed, I also wasn't totally blown away.
While Buffalo Run has many different burgers on their menu, the Lone Star because it was starred as a favorite so it made the most sense to try. Starting off, I think it had TOO much going on. All burgers came with the LTOP unless asked not to, but for this burger I think it would have been much better if they didn't put that on that burger to begin with because it just doesn't mesh well with all the other things the burger has going on.
It looks like this burger was trying to go for a spicy aspect, and I don't know why, but it just didn't do it for me. The jalapenos were a little spicy, but that, the pepper jack cheese, & jalapeno bun just didn't kick me in the way that I think it was intended.
That being said, flavor wise, the cheese tasted great and was melted on the burger just right, the bun was soft yet sturdy, and the jalapenos were fresh just as the menu states.
The bacon was a little bit of a mixed bag for me because while it was flavorful, it was very chewy which while it's a preference, I hate chewy bacon.
The meat itself was awesome. My fiance had a regular cheeseburger and I tried some of hers, and sure enough, the meat on both burgers was cooked great, was juicy, and was a great size, so while this burger may not have been what I thought it would be, the cheeseburger is definitely a worthwhile trip on Mondays when they have their $5 burger special.
One thing I would like to circle back around to on this burger is the spiciness aspect, I think (and my fiance & roommate who both tried this burger as well) this burger would be served very well if there was some sort of spicy sauce on the burger as well such as a Jalapeno Ranch or a Spicy BBQ, something to kick it up a notch. Otherwise this burger was very well done, and it was a pretty good size, I ate it at 1 with only a half order of fries wasn't hungry until like 9 so you will leave full if you get the burger with a full side of fries!

VERDICT: 3.5 out of 5 Stars.

And so the Chase continues…

Southwell's Hamburger Grill

Southwell's Hamburger Grill Houston, TX Bacon Cheeseburger Mayo, Mustard, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, and Onions with American Cheese and Bacon. $6.40 For this week's burger trip, I decided to try out Southwell's Hamburger Grill in Houston, TX. Now I have lived in Houston my whole life and I have never heard about his place (despite it having 4 locations in the Houston area) until I looked through a burger suggestion post on Facebook, and frankly, I probably could have gone the rest of my life without hearing about it. Now before anyone jumps to any super negative conclusions, the burger wasn't "bad". It just was not what I was looking for. The meat was a pretty good size and was pretty juicy but didn't really have any seasoning, the bun seemed to be a typical hamburger bun out of a package, and the cheese seemed to be just a regular old slice of American cheese thrown on at the last parts of the grilling process. I didn't like how...

Omega Grill

Omega Grill Spring, TX BBQ Burger Farm 44 Meat, BBQ Sauce, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, & Fried Onions $12.99 For my first review back home, I decided to go to a place that I have always seen but never really tried until now and I am kind of mad at myself for not trying it to begin with. As I was researching this place, I found online that they have an award winning Breakfast Burger and I was very eager to try it as I hadn't really had a breakfast burger on this blog yet, so it was something new, but when I arrived at the place, it turns out that their prices online were wrong and this burger was going to be $17. I frankly just wasn't willing to take a chance that day on something I might not like, so I opted with what the waitress said was their 2nd most popular option, their BBQ burger, and I wasn't let down. First of all, I thought the presentation was great. How they stacked the onion rings and ingredients was super fun and I love it. But let's get ...

Walden War-Tejas Cafe

Tejas Cafe (Mariel's Deli) & (Walden Market) Montgomery, TX Tejas Burger Cheese, Jalapenos, Onions, Cilanto & Chipotle Mayo on a Jalapeno Bun (with Ketchup at Tejas Cafe Walden Market) $7 For this week, I had a friend recommend me a place to go but when looking up the place, I found that there were two of the same name on the same road and when I couldn't get a hold of said friend, I had a very tough decision to make. I either tried one and hoped it was the right one, or I TRY THEM BOTH. I got both, and therefore we have the War on Walden Road between the Two Tejas Cafes. Now both Tejas Cafes are within Shell gast stations on Walden road, one in the Shell that has "Mariel's Deli" and one that has "Walden Market". Before I start, I can tell there is some skepticism, "You want me to eat gas station food?" Trust me, I had THE SAME THOUGHT before I was led to this place, but holy shit was I wrong. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Ri...
