For my first burger back into the normal burger game (because let's be honest, Jack in the Box is not up to par with the burgers that I usually review on here) I went to a place that I have been seeing raved about on Facebook for their crawfish, but upon going through their pictures, they had great looking burgers and I was not disappointed.
Let me start by giving full disclosure, I cannot give this burger full points because of it's lack of creativity. This is simply a regular hamburger, and while it doesn't have all the extra thrills that make for some fun burgers, this burger is STILL really awesome.
The veggies that topped the burger were good for what they were. They tasted pretty fresh so they get a full amount of points there, but we are here to more importantly talk about the other aspects of the burger so let's get to it.
The meat was super thick and more importantly, dripping with juice. And with how big this burger was, it took me quite awhile to eat it, and it never dried out, which is something I am normally not accustomed to with these monster burgers. Adding to that, obviously this burger was very big. I didn't eat dinner after having this burger (and fries) and when I come back, I honestly will probably split a burger. So just know you are getting your money's worth out of this burger. The last positive thing I have to say about this burger is I loved the bun. I am always wanting to have good tasting bread with my burgers and this one was very flavorful and soft, I almost wanted to just order some of their buns to go so that I could make some burgers at home with them.
On the negative side, I already spoke to the lack of creativity, but the only other thing I think I would have graded negatively is that the burger wasn't seasoned to the potential that I thought it could be. Being a cajun place, they made sure that their fries had a cajun seasoning on them that tasted really good and gave them a little spice. I would be curious to see how their burger would have tasted if they had added that seasoning to the meat, I think it would have really made the burger pop and would have given it a less "normal burger" taste.
All in all, this burger while having it's creative flaws, is without a doubt the BEST basic burger I have had to date, and if Cormier's eventually rolls out some creative specialty burgers, I will be first in line to be back to try them.
VERDICT: 3.5 out of 5 Stars.
And so the Chase continues…
