Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack

Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack
Baybrook, TX
In-Bred Burger
Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, American Cheese with a Hand formed Beef patty mixed with smoked bacon & medium spiced jalapenos.
$9.99

For the final burger of 2019, I tried a place that I continuously drive by but have never heard any reviews from anyone I know, making it a real gamble of a place and it turned out to be a somewhat interesting experience.
Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack for those of you who do not know is a south Houston based Cajun restaurant that is very proud of it's seafood and Cajun cuisine if you look at the menu. For example, they even serve a burger where the patty is mixed with Alligator meat and another that is mixed with Crawfish meat. While these would have been excellent additions to this blog, I felt like mixing the meat with other meats would create an imbalance and thus did not try it, but I would love to recommend to go there to do so!
Enough introduction, let's get to the meat of this article, and start with the meat of the burger! As you can tell by the description at the top and picture above, the meat has been formed with Bacon & Jalapenos inside it which I thought was really interesting. The best thing about this is that I could taste the spiciness and jalapenos on EVERY bite which is great when some burgers that include jalapenos may not actually a piece of jalapeno in every bite. The worst thing about this is that I literally tasted none of the bacon throughout the whole burger, if it wasn't for the picture providing evidence, I would say the bacon wasn't even there.
To finish off the meat, while it was VERY juicy, like so much grease and juices that the bun was super soggy by the end it didn't have any seasoning that I could taste which just seems lazy when it comes to a Cajun place, because I expect most things to be seasoned very well.
Really there's not much more I can add to this burger. The cheese and LTO seemed to be just regular generic toppings that you would find anywhere and that bun itself was just a bun. It was very large though, which is great because you are for sure going to leave this place full if you order it.
One thing I would like to add is that I would love to see some more creativity on the burgers in the future. All the burgers came with the same generic LTO and choice of cheese. If there were some different special ingredients on each of these special meat burgers, I think it could really push them up a lot.

VERDICT: 3.5 out of 5 Stars.

And so the Chase continues…

Omega Grill

Omega Grill Spring, TX BBQ Burger Farm 44 Meat, BBQ Sauce, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, & Fried Onions $12.99 For my first review back home, I decided to go to a place that I have always seen but never really tried until now and I am kind of mad at myself for not trying it to begin with. As I was researching this place, I found online that they have an award winning Breakfast Burger and I was very eager to try it as I hadn't really had a breakfast burger on this blog yet, so it was something new, but when I arrived at the place, it turns out that their prices online were wrong and this burger was going to be $17. I frankly just wasn't willing to take a chance that day on something I might not like, so I opted with what the waitress said was their 2nd most popular option, their BBQ burger, and I wasn't let down. First of all, I thought the presentation was great. How they stacked the onion rings and ingredients was super fun and I love it. But let's get ...

Walden War-Tejas Cafe

Tejas Cafe (Mariel's Deli) & (Walden Market) Montgomery, TX Tejas Burger Cheese, Jalapenos, Onions, Cilanto & Chipotle Mayo on a Jalapeno Bun (with Ketchup at Tejas Cafe Walden Market) $7 For this week, I had a friend recommend me a place to go but when looking up the place, I found that there were two of the same name on the same road and when I couldn't get a hold of said friend, I had a very tough decision to make. I either tried one and hoped it was the right one, or I TRY THEM BOTH. I got both, and therefore we have the War on Walden Road between the Two Tejas Cafes. Now both Tejas Cafes are within Shell gast stations on Walden road, one in the Shell that has "Mariel's Deli" and one that has "Walden Market". Before I start, I can tell there is some skepticism, "You want me to eat gas station food?" Trust me, I had THE SAME THOUGHT before I was led to this place, but holy shit was I wrong. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Ri...

Southwell's Hamburger Grill

Southwell's Hamburger Grill Houston, TX Bacon Cheeseburger Mayo, Mustard, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, and Onions with American Cheese and Bacon. $6.40 For this week's burger trip, I decided to try out Southwell's Hamburger Grill in Houston, TX. Now I have lived in Houston my whole life and I have never heard about his place (despite it having 4 locations in the Houston area) until I looked through a burger suggestion post on Facebook, and frankly, I probably could have gone the rest of my life without hearing about it. Now before anyone jumps to any super negative conclusions, the burger wasn't "bad". It just was not what I was looking for. The meat was a pretty good size and was pretty juicy but didn't really have any seasoning, the bun seemed to be a typical hamburger bun out of a package, and the cheese seemed to be just a regular old slice of American cheese thrown on at the last parts of the grilling process. I didn't like how...
