First of all, I hope everyone is doing well during these past few months. Now that MOST food places have opened back up in some capacity, I am trying to get back into the swing of things by bringing you burger content as much I can when I can. While I may not be every week yet, I will try to get you something.
This week, I went to a small cafe that is right next to my house. I stumbled on to this place one morning and they have really kick ass breakfasts and while I was there I saw their big list of specialty burgers and knew I needed to get to try one whenever I could. I was however a bit disappointed in the one I picked. While this was not the "most popular" burger that the server had recommended, it was one that I thought sounded very good at the time, so I may be going back to trying one of their favorite burgers instead.
The main obstacle I couldn't get over with this burger was the meat. It was so charred I could get no flavor from it except "soot". And going with this, the burger was of course dried out. Now this might not have been an issue since there was so many ingredients on it, but I couldn't even taste the Whiskey Steak Sauce. When I opened the burger, I saw they had it on there, but just barely,
The grilled onions and mushrooms were fine. They did provide some much needed flavor to the burger, but not enough to the point where it made it that good. The Swiss Cheese was a fun choice for the burger as I don't think I have had Swiss on a burger in a while, and they cooked the cheese on top of the burger so it was super melty and hot, so that was great. Beyond that, none of the basic toppings really jumped off the page for me.
The bun itself was just a basic bun that you could get anywhere, so there were no way to add points for that. I will say that the burger was a pretty good size and could fill someone up for a meal, so it has a good value for the price.
Overall, I don't want to say that this place is a 3 star burger place, because one of their other burgers could be a hidden gem, I just have to say that the burger I tried this time should probably be looked past in all future orders for one of their more popular ones.

VERDICT: 3 out of 5 Stars.
And so the Chase continues…
Thank you for the review on Compadres Texas Café. I wanted to touch base with you about the burger. I pulled your ticket and Glenn will get with the cook who was on duty at this time about the meat temp. Compadres burger are grilled and char-broiled, but should not be over cooked unless requested. It should have also had more sauce on it than Shown. I am very sorry and do hope you will return and give our Texas Burger menu another try. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at Compadres soon. We usually have all our hot sauce line on the tables, and Steak sauce is keep in self serve area in the dinning room. Just ask for it. We have pulled everything from the tables for now. Thank you, From Guin, Glenn and Staff at Compadres.
