Bar Louie

Bar Louie
The Woodlands, TX
Bourbon BBQ Burger
House-made Bourbon BBQ Sauce, White Cheddar, Cream Cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Crispy Onion Strings
$12.50

While I do try my hardest to avoid the national chains in order to give more recognition to the mom and pop burger places out here trying to gain the success of the chains, I have to say, I was pretty blown off my feet by Bar Louie's Bourbon BBQ Burger. (Say that 5 times fast)
The most interesting thing about this burger (and one thing I sadly had to dock them a little bit for) was the cream cheese. Cream Cheese on a burger tasted VERY good, I liked it for the first few bites, but then I kept hitting secret pockets of Cream Cheese that in some bites, that was all I was tasting. In moderation, this is an amazing topping to have on a BBQ burger.
As we flip to the other cheese on the burger, we had white cheddar. White Cheddar is an excellent choice for a BBQ flavored burger, and while it was melted on to the meat, I honestly didn't get a taste of it in any bites. Now I did get this burger to go so maybe, it would have shown up more eating it as soon as it came off the grill, but for now I cannot speak to it.
The bacon while being very flavorful was full of fat. I think WHEN I do go back (because I will), I will try to ask them to get that a little crispier so it won't be as noticeable. Now on the other hand, the crispy onion strings were PERFECT. I got to feel the crunch of them and feel the flavor of the breading on onion just enough to where it was a supplement to the burger flavor and not take over the whole thing (like the Cream Cheese).
The last topping was the house made bourbon BBQ sauce which was AMAZING. I even started dipping my fries in the extra BBQ sauce that was given. I would love to have that sauce readily available in my house.
The meat itself was delicious in it's own right. While it was hard to track down a piece that wasn't mixed with one of the cheeses, it was a very juicy patty and fell apart very easily. Unfortunately, I could not tell how well it was seasoned or if there was any to speak of because of the cheese, but I had no complaints otherwise.
The bun was serviceable for this burger, but near the end it did start to fall apart. This is a messy burger, make no mistake so if you don't eat it fast that bun is going to fall to shreds. But the bun itself was soft and flavorful.
Lastly, while I loved this burger, it does seem to be on the small side, especially for $12, but if you go to Bar Louie on Tuesdays, you can get this amazing burger for $5. That's right, $5 (and it comes with fries). So whose meeting me there next Tuesday?

VERDICT: 4 out of 5 Stars.

And so the Chase continues…

The Dugout

The Dugout Texarkana, Arkansas Double Header & The Slugger Double Header-2 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Single Patty The Slugger-Single with Cheddar Cheese, Grilled Pineapple, Bang Bang Sauce, served on a White Bun $8.99 (Double Header), $6.29 (The Slugger) Over the past few weeks, I have been very busy with work and then on vacation road tripping to Nashville, Tennessee. So naturally on this road trip I had to get some burgers, and I decided to get multiple burgers at each stop to make up for all the weeks that I missed. The first burger I tried was the Double Header. In the easiest way to describe it, this was a burger patty smashed between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches. Now this doesn't seem like the most creative burger in the world, but it was FUN burger. And it was REALLY good. The Dugout is a hidden gem in Texarkana, their burgers are great! Now while I would love to give this burger a lot of points, I have to take into consideratio...

BurgerFi

BurgerFi The Woodlands, TX Cheeseburger American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, BurgerFi Sauce $7.47 For today, I had the luck of being at BurgerFi's Customer Appreciation Day (which was really just a reopening) and happened to be one of the 50 who got the free burgers for a year, and normally I would be super excited about that, but unfortunately, the burger has me less excited that I have to eat 51 more of them within the next year. To start off, my order was wrong, which I get it was super busy so I'm not going to hold that against them, but I hope that is not a regular thing. Once I did get my correct order and sat down to eat, I was very surprised by how small the burger was. My fiance got a single patty burger and there was no way that was filling. When you have the double patty, it was a little more obviously, but the burgers are VERY hand held. The bun was probably my favorite part of the whole burger. It was thick enough to absorb the liquids on th...

The Kitchen

The Kitchen The Woodlands, TX Cowboy Burger White Cheddar, Yellow Cheddar, Avocado, Bacon, Mixed Greens, Jalapenos, Onions, Tomatoes, Dill Pickles, Akaushi Wagyu on a Brioche Bun $13.50 For this week, I kept it very local and went to an establishment that was right across the street from my work. Going into it, I honestly didn't know what to expect because I had seen very good reviews on Facebook, but no one I personally knew had been to it so it was a bit of an enigma, and let me tell you, Facebook hit right on the money. The burger itself SOUNDS a lot bigger than it is. Don't get me wrong, it's no small burger, but just from the list of ingredients it sounds like it was going to be big, instead it was just tall. When looking at what all is on this burger, it's already got to get points for creativity. There's like a whole party of ingredients going on here The first thing I noticed was the patty. Not only do they melt their cheeses on to the p...
