Honky-Tonk Burger

$12.50

The next time you find yourself fighting a case at the Montgomery County Courthouse in downtown Conroe, or if you just happen to be in the area, there is a quaint little place that I recommend EVERYONE try out.
Personally, I never knew this place existed before happening upon it in a comment on a post for good burgers in the area and upon walking in, I was a little skeptic because it just seemed like a tiny little bar to watch live musicians, but I couldn't have been more wrong. While you definitely can not fit 100 people in the place, you could eat 100 burgers there and never get tired.
They had a pretty good selection of burgers and while I was leaning towards trying the one that seemed very Hawaiian, the server let me know that this was by far their most popular and for good reason.
To start with the bread, it itself was nothing special, just a regular hamburger bun, so easy to write off at first glance, but once you got into the inside of the burger is where the magic happens.
As you can see right of the back, the toppings are piled high on this burger. They try to cram everything on the burger and I tried to cram it all in my mouth. The bacon and crispy onion strings were SO crunchy yet retained all the flavor they needed to be a great complement to the burger. The grilled jalapenos (from the bites that didn't have too much sauce) were extremely hot which is always nice to get a little kick from the burger. Lastly, the cheese which was a smoked gouda, was a very good choice for the burger and even though I couldn't really taste it in a lot of bites due to everything else that was going on, it was good in the bites that I did have it.
The meat was super juicy and had great flavoring, this was probably one of my favorite burger patties of the year so far and I can't wait to go back and get another one.
On the negative side, I was not too big of a fan of the RBT BBQ sauce. It was very sweet and on the bites that had the jalapenos, the sweetness was so overpowering that I didn't even taste any spice, which no one wants that if they are getting a burger with jalapenos.
Overall, this burger is great and is a must try for everyone who lives within a short driving distance!

VERDICT: 4 out of 5 Stars.

And so the Chase continues…

Southwell's Hamburger Grill

Southwell's Hamburger Grill Houston, TX Bacon Cheeseburger Mayo, Mustard, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, and Onions with American Cheese and Bacon. $6.40 For this week's burger trip, I decided to try out Southwell's Hamburger Grill in Houston, TX. Now I have lived in Houston my whole life and I have never heard about his place (despite it having 4 locations in the Houston area) until I looked through a burger suggestion post on Facebook, and frankly, I probably could have gone the rest of my life without hearing about it. Now before anyone jumps to any super negative conclusions, the burger wasn't "bad". It just was not what I was looking for. The meat was a pretty good size and was pretty juicy but didn't really have any seasoning, the bun seemed to be a typical hamburger bun out of a package, and the cheese seemed to be just a regular old slice of American cheese thrown on at the last parts of the grilling process. I didn't like how...

Omega Grill

Omega Grill Spring, TX BBQ Burger Farm 44 Meat, BBQ Sauce, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, & Fried Onions $12.99 For my first review back home, I decided to go to a place that I have always seen but never really tried until now and I am kind of mad at myself for not trying it to begin with. As I was researching this place, I found online that they have an award winning Breakfast Burger and I was very eager to try it as I hadn't really had a breakfast burger on this blog yet, so it was something new, but when I arrived at the place, it turns out that their prices online were wrong and this burger was going to be $17. I frankly just wasn't willing to take a chance that day on something I might not like, so I opted with what the waitress said was their 2nd most popular option, their BBQ burger, and I wasn't let down. First of all, I thought the presentation was great. How they stacked the onion rings and ingredients was super fun and I love it. But let's get ...

Walden War-Tejas Cafe

Tejas Cafe (Mariel's Deli) & (Walden Market) Montgomery, TX Tejas Burger Cheese, Jalapenos, Onions, Cilanto & Chipotle Mayo on a Jalapeno Bun (with Ketchup at Tejas Cafe Walden Market) $7 For this week, I had a friend recommend me a place to go but when looking up the place, I found that there were two of the same name on the same road and when I couldn't get a hold of said friend, I had a very tough decision to make. I either tried one and hoped it was the right one, or I TRY THEM BOTH. I got both, and therefore we have the War on Walden Road between the Two Tejas Cafes. Now both Tejas Cafes are within Shell gast stations on Walden road, one in the Shell that has "Mariel's Deli" and one that has "Walden Market". Before I start, I can tell there is some skepticism, "You want me to eat gas station food?" Trust me, I had THE SAME THOUGHT before I was led to this place, but holy shit was I wrong. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Ri...
