The Draft Sports Bar and Grill

The Draft Sports Bar and Grill
Magnolia, TX
Double Porky Burger
Bacon, Smoked Pork, Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion
$13

As I returned to my old stomping grounds of FM 1488, I decided to hit a small sports bar that was relatively new called "The Draft". I had always seen very interesting advertisements on Facebook for their crawfish specials (which my fiance loves), but I had never gone to try their food until now, and while I wasn't disappointed, I also don't think I was missing much.
The Draft boasts 3 different craft burgers, and while all of them I am sure are good in different ways, the option of having some smoked pork on the burger caught my eyes as one of my Top 10 burgers has pork on it, so I was hoping to hit 2 for 2.
The smoked pork was actually VERY good, it probably was my favorite part of the burger but it was in no way as good as Tewbelaux's pork that they put on their burger. The bacon that was on the burger was crispy and was full of flavor still, so I was very excited about that.
Unfortunately, this is pretty much where the end of the good parts of the burger. They had the typical LTO that was nothing special and then they slapped what was probably just a regular slice of cheese on the burger that was so thin, I could barely tell it was there at bites.
The meat of the burger was also pretty average. While it didn't taste bad, it seemed like they overcooked it and I had a quite of few charred bites for being a "medium" cooked burger. It also didn't have any seasoning that I could taste which just doesn't help progress this burger up the taste ladder more.
While this place is great for crawfish and by no means is it a "bad" burger, I think there are better places you can go to get a burger on 1488. (However, they do have $6 burger and fries on Mondays, so if you happen to be out on a Monday, I can fully endorse it for a quick, cheap lunch).

.

VERDICT: 3 out of 5 Stars.

And so the Chase continues…

The Dugout

The Dugout Texarkana, Arkansas Double Header & The Slugger Double Header-2 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Single Patty The Slugger-Single with Cheddar Cheese, Grilled Pineapple, Bang Bang Sauce, served on a White Bun $8.99 (Double Header), $6.29 (The Slugger) Over the past few weeks, I have been very busy with work and then on vacation road tripping to Nashville, Tennessee. So naturally on this road trip I had to get some burgers, and I decided to get multiple burgers at each stop to make up for all the weeks that I missed. The first burger I tried was the Double Header. In the easiest way to describe it, this was a burger patty smashed between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches. Now this doesn't seem like the most creative burger in the world, but it was FUN burger. And it was REALLY good. The Dugout is a hidden gem in Texarkana, their burgers are great! Now while I would love to give this burger a lot of points, I have to take into consideratio...

Black Bear Diner

Black Bear Diner Nationwide Parmesan Sourdough Cheeseburger Dijon Mustard, Swiss Cheese, Tomato, & Grilled Onions on Thick-Crust Sourdough Bread grilled golden with a Garlic Parmesan Cheese Crust $10.99 If you have had the fortune of wandering the new Metropark Square in Conroe, you might have noticed this really cool and interesting new place, called the Black Bear Diner, which is COMPLETELY decked out in Bear stuff. My kids loved everything about it. My fiance loved the breakfast plates. I did not take a loving to the burger. As you can see, the burger actually LOOKS incredible. I was super psyched when reading it, and even more so when it came out, so description and appearance are 5/5, but it's when I tasted it was when the issues started. The meat was probably one of the least favorite meat patties I have had since starting this blog. It was bland and even worse it was tough and chewy. It was almost like chewing a piece of rubber. I was shocked, because...

Lord's Kitchen

Lord's Kitchen San Antonio, TX 1/2 lb Cheeseburger Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Onion $10.25 I usually love my trips out of town because I get to go to a burger place that I don't have access to on a daily basis within my local area, but instead I was left with a severe feeling of disappointment on my drive home after eating a burger from the Lord's Kitchen. I opted to go with a regular cheeseburger because I wanted a full meal of fries and a drink and looking back now, I should maybe have gotten a specialty burger instead. The toppings that came on this burger were all the average things that you would expect from a burger place and it didn't taste like they were high quality, now they did not taste like they were of bad quality, just an average kind of taste. The meat, which I feel like should be the thing that you should take pride on, was bland. It honestly tasted to me like a burger that one may find at a drive thru like Burger King or Wend...
