Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack

Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack Baybrook, TX In-Bred Burger Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, American Cheese with a Hand formed Beef patty mixed with smoked bacon & medium spiced jalapenos. $9.99 For the final burger of 2019, I tried a place that I continuously drive by but have never heard any reviews from anyone I know, making it a real gamble of a place and it turned out to be a somewhat interesting experience. Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack for those of you who do not know is a south Houston based Cajun restaurant that is very proud of it's seafood and Cajun cuisine if you look at the menu. For example, they even serve a burger where the patty is mixed with Alligator meat and another that is mixed with Crawfish meat. While these would have been excellent additions to this blog, I felt like mixing the meat with other meats would create an imbalance and thus did not try it, but I would love to recommend to go there to do so! Enough introduction, let's get to the me

Kat'z Deli

Katz's Deli Shenandoah, TX Carnegie Burger Bacon, Nosh Sauce, Cheddar Cheese, Jalapeno Cream Cheese Bites, Lettuce, & Tomato $13.99 I want to start by saying Merry Christmas to everyone (or anyone) who has followed me throughout this year and with the year coming to a close, I hope to close out on some strong burgers, and this one did not let me down on that. Katz's Deli is this 24/7 Deli/Restaurant that is in front of my neighborhood and despite driving by it all the time, I never stop, and now i regret it. They had a good selection of creative burgers, but the server said that this one is the most popular and one of his favorites, so I went ahead and took his word for it, and was not let down, but enough gushing over it, let's break it down! First of all, this thing is HUGE. I could only eat about half of it and had to save the rest to go, as you can see from the picture, it's just tall because of not only how thick the patty is, but because of

Craft Grill

Craft Grill Tomball, TX Gruene Burger Chipotle Sauce, Roasted Jalapeno Pepper Strips, House-Made Salsa Verde, & Monterrey Jack Cheese on a Challah Bun $12 I have to give the Craft Grill a lot of credit, they have an extremely large variety of tasty sounding burgers! I spent probably around 10 minutes trying to decide and then second guessing myself on which burger I would want to eat, and eventually just had one of the staff pick for me when they said that this burger was one of their newer and more frequently ordered. And honestly, I wasn't disappointed. The main theme of this burger is HOT. This burger is spicy because of the Chipotle sauce and the Roasted Jalapeno Pepper Strips which I have to say were probably the 2 best parts of this burger. Not only were they hot, but that packed a good amount of flavor and freshness along with the heat. Moving on to the rest of the supporting cast of the burger, you can clearly see the Monterrey Jack cheese that was me

Cormier's Kitchen

Cormier's Kitchen Spring, TX Hamburger Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Pickles, Mayo, & Mustard $8.99 For my first burger back into the normal burger game (because let's be honest, Jack in the Box is not up to par with the burgers that I usually review on here) I went to a place that I have been seeing raved about on Facebook for their crawfish, but upon going through their pictures, they had great looking burgers and I was not disappointed. Let me start by giving full disclosure, I cannot give this burger full points because of it's lack of creativity. This is simply a regular hamburger, and while it doesn't have all the extra thrills that make for some fun burgers, this burger is STILL really awesome. The veggies that topped the burger were good for what they were. They tasted pretty fresh so they get a full amount of points there, but we are here to more importantly talk about the other aspects of the burger so let's get to it. The meat was super

Jack in the Box

Jack in the Box Nationwide Sourdough Jack Tomato, Bacon, Swiss-style Cheese, Mayo, & Ketchup on Soughdough Bun $5.39 I want to apologize to all my followers in advance as I was on a time crunch due to the holidays and could not find the time to properly select a place to review and instead in my chaotic Black Friday shopping, opted to go through a drive through and landed on Jack in the Box. Back in high school, the Sourdough Jack was my go to burger because there was a Jack in the Box right in front of my neighborhood but honestly, since I graduated and moved, I found myself very seldom going to Jack in the Box in general and I don't know if my taste buds have changed or the burger ingredients have changed but I just didn't get the same enjoyment from this burger that I used to. To put things into perspective, I liked the overall size of the burger, it was very filling, however the meat patty was not. It was a very thin patty (much thinner than I remember

Omega Grill

Omega Grill Spring, TX BBQ Burger Farm 44 Meat, BBQ Sauce, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, & Fried Onions $12.99 For my first review back home, I decided to go to a place that I have always seen but never really tried until now and I am kind of mad at myself for not trying it to begin with. As I was researching this place, I found online that they have an award winning Breakfast Burger and I was very eager to try it as I hadn't really had a breakfast burger on this blog yet, so it was something new, but when I arrived at the place, it turns out that their prices online were wrong and this burger was going to be $17. I frankly just wasn't willing to take a chance that day on something I might not like, so I opted with what the waitress said was their 2nd most popular option, their BBQ burger, and I wasn't let down. First of all, I thought the presentation was great. How they stacked the onion rings and ingredients was super fun and I love it. But let's get

Taco Hut

Taco Hut Lewisville, TX Mexican Burger Crispy Bacon, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Avocado & Jalapenos $7.99 For my last stop in the Dallas area, I hit up an very nontraditional place for a burger, it was a gas station taco stand, and it was surprisingly better than one would think. This place was (according to my roommate) a very popular stop for late night tacos after going to the dance club that was a couple miles from the place, but the burgers were a question mark, so up to the challenge, I decided to try it. Frankly, a lot of burger was just average, it had nothing special going on with the lettuce, onions, or tomatoes, but the addition of jalapenos & avocado did add a little extra to give it a little Mexican feel to it. Speaking to those 2 toppings, while I loved the avocado on the burger, the jalapenos were SO overpowering that I had to take some of them off because I simply could not taste the burger with them. The meat was SUPER greasy because it was

Snuffer's

Snuffer's Dallas, TX Dr. Pepper BBQ Bacon Burger Dr. Pepper-infused BBQ sauce, American Cheese, Pickles, Diced Red Onions, Mayo, Applewood Smoked Bacon Strips & Crispy Bacon Crumbles $8.99 Over the past weekend I took a trip to Dallas to take my fiance to a concert of her favorite singer (Post Malone) and I decided to grab a couple burgers, this was the first stop and boy did it not disappoint. Originally, I chose this place as it had released a "DakBurger" in 2016 in honor of the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, so i knew this place had to be fun at least to have such a good marketing strategy, and upon arriving I learned that it was a limited time thing, but when I came across this burger on the menu, being the Dr. Pepper super fan I am, I had to get it. THE SAUCE IS AMAZING. I honestly had no idea going into the burger what I was expecting from the sauce, but I defiinetly wasn't expecting anything this good. You could taste the bbq sauce in it, bu

Buffalo Run

Buffalo Run Spring, TX Lone Star Burger Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles, Pepper Jack Cheese, Bacon, Fresh Jalapenos, on a Sourdough Jalapeno Bun $10.99 *I apologize for the late post, I was in Dallas for the weekend so I didn't get to post at my regular times. On the plus side, there will be some yummy Dallas based burgers coming up in the next couple weeks so keep an eye out! This week I decided to keep it local and try a new(er) place that I have heard GREAT things about their crawfish, but not so much on the rest of their food and while I was not disappointed, I also wasn't totally blown away. While Buffalo Run has many different burgers on their menu, the Lone Star because it was starred as a favorite so it made the most sense to try. Starting off, I think it had TOO much going on. All burgers came with the LTOP unless asked not to, but for this burger I think it would have been much better if they didn't put that on that burger to begin with because

Cream Burger

Cream Burger Houston, TX Cheeseburger American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles $4.10 Nestled in the burbs of 3rd Ward, is what I can say it a pretty good hidden gym of Houston in Cream Burger. When you pull up, it may not look like much, but if you are wanting a good burger on a budget, this is the place for you. As you can tell by the burger I have, the main problem I have with this place is that there is no creativity, which I hate that I have to take off for it, but it is what it is. They are focusing their craft on just churning out these basic burgers with good flavor and they do so. As we go into the burger you can tell the bun is just a generic hamburger bun, no points there. The lettuce, tomato, and onions are just run of the mill veggie toppings so that's that. But then we get to the meat and cheese. The meat patty is HUGE & GREASY, which was awesome. I loved the patty despite the lack of seasoning, and would love to eat it again. The cheese

BurgerFi

BurgerFi The Woodlands, TX Cheeseburger American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, BurgerFi Sauce $7.47 For today, I had the luck of being at BurgerFi's Customer Appreciation Day (which was really just a reopening) and happened to be one of the 50 who got the free burgers for a year, and normally I would be super excited about that, but unfortunately, the burger has me less excited that I have to eat 51 more of them within the next year. To start off, my order was wrong, which I get it was super busy so I'm not going to hold that against them, but I hope that is not a regular thing. Once I did get my correct order and sat down to eat, I was very surprised by how small the burger was. My fiance got a single patty burger and there was no way that was filling. When you have the double patty, it was a little more obviously, but the burgers are VERY hand held. The bun was probably my favorite part of the whole burger. It was thick enough to absorb the liquids on th

Mia's Table

Mia's Table The Woodlands, TX Patty Melt Pepper Jack Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Jaime's Secret Sauce on Texas Toast $12.49 This week we tried out Mia's Table in the Woodlands (though they have 2 other locations in the Houston area) and was pleasantly surprised. Mia's Table doesn't have a crazy amount of burger options, but the employee at the counter said a lot of people get the Patty Melt, and while I enjoy a good one, that's what I ended up going with. I'm going to start with the negatives, because honestly if these 2 things had been fixed, this might have been a 4.5. The first thing that I wasn't crazy about was the Jaime's Secret Sauce, which is a combination of Louisiana Hot Sauce, Mayonnaise, Dijon Mustard, Salt, & Pepper but to me, the Dijon Mustard was REALLY strong in it and it kind of threw off the whole taste of the burger for me. The other thing really killed it for this burger was the caramelized onions. Anyone w

Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks The Woodlands, TX Avocado Smash Burger Swiss, House Made Avocado Smash, Red Onions, Tomato, Arugula, Sun Dried Tomato Mayo $10.49 This week I went to Twin Peaks whose motto is "Eats, Drinks, Scenic Views." and while I can't speak to the last two things of the motto, I can assure everyone who reads this blog, they got the Eats covered. To start with, Twin Peaks uses an egg bun which honestly is my favorite type of bun and it was so good. I probably could have done with more (and we'll get to that later) but it was great. Working out way down we get to the avocado smash which is a mixture of avocado, bacon, and other various ingredients but even without completely dissecting it, it was incredible.the swiss cheese was basic swiss cheese but it was a welcome ingredient to add the cheese factor to the burger. Red Onions & Tomatoes are basic things you would find on the burger so there's nothing really to deduct or add points there (thoug

I-45 Diner

I-45 Diner Spring, TX Bacon B.B.Q. Burger Bacon, American Cheese, Grilled Onions, Lettuce, Mayonnaise $9.99 For this week's edition of the burger blog, I went to the I-45 Diner in Spring, TX which is a pretty interesting review depending on who you ask. To start off, I would like to say that this place has a VERY extensive menu, it has breakfast, lunch, snacks, dessert, pretty much anything you can think of. And while I got a burger, my fiance got a breakfast plate that was so good and filling that I am heavily considering making it one of my regular breakfast spots, but as far as burgers, I don't think i will be making this one of my regular burger spots. The first downside of this burger is (if you can tell from the picture) the bun. This is one of those buns that at filled with air, so it was kind of a downer. Moving downward you can see A LOT of BBQ sauce, like this burger is drenched in it, which is a great thing if you like BBQ sauce, but for me it tak

Bombshell's

Bombshell's Texas The Green Beret Bacon, Guacamole, Jalapeno, Sauteed Onion, Lettuce, Tomato, & Blue Cheese Crumbles $13.95 Buckle up for a bumpy ride because there's not much going right with this burger this week. Now before I start tearing it apart, I do have to disclose that it was really busy so that MAY have something to do with parts of it, but it's hard to use that excuse to justify most of the faults this burger has. The meat itself was all around disappointing and actually caused me to not even eat the burger in it's entirety. While I get most of my burgers medium with a little pink, this burger was basically still mooing. Now like I said earlier, this could be due to how busy the kitchen was, but still it made the burger unappetizing to me. The meat also was not very juicy and didn't have any seasoning of any kind on it, making the burger have to rely on the fixings and not the meat itself. The tomato and lettuce come separate from

Red Robin

Red Robin Nationwide Burnin' Love Burger Fried Jalapeno Coins, House-Made Salsa, Pepperjack Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Chipotle Aioli on a Jalapeno-Cornmeal Kaiser Roll $12.19 Now while I REALLY REALLY do try to stay away from the big giant burger chains, it just so happened that me and my fiance were craving some Red Robin steak fries and I couldn't resist such an easy pitch being thrown to me, so here we go. Red Robin has SOOOOO many choices and A LOT of creativity. If I was grading on the creativity of their menu, they get 5 out of 5, and they are ALWAYS coming up with new stuff, but to be fair I decided to do one of their regular menu items instead of something that could be gone next week and the one I landed on was the Burnin' Love Burger. As you can tell by the lineup on this burger.....it's gonna be hot, and boy was it. The Jalapeno coins are the all-stars of this burger because they really stuff them in there so you get some on every b

Christian's Tailgate & Bar

Christian's Tailgate & Bar Houston, TX Country Fried Bacon Burger 1/2 lb burger with fresh toasted bun, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayo mustard topped with country fried bacon & onion ring $13.00 For Labor Day, I thought I would go into Downtown Houston and try one of the many great burgers that H-Town has to offer. I originally had another place in mind, but upon finding out that it was cash only and I didn't have any cash on me, I had to go to my back up place, and here we. Starting off, their menu has a couple specialty burgers and while the Mushroom Swiss Burger was indicated to be the most popular by the bartender, I opted to go with the Country Fried Bacon Burger, because the country fried bacon seemed to be an interesting topping to try out, and while I was not disappointed, I also wasn't blown away. The big draw of this burger was the country fried bacon, which had an interesting taste. The breading was good, but it was so much brea
