Lord's Kitchen

Lord's Kitchen San Antonio, TX 1/2 lb Cheeseburger Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Onion $10.25 I usually love my trips out of town because I get to go to a burger place that I don't have access to on a daily basis within my local area, but instead I was left with a severe feeling of disappointment on my drive home after eating a burger from the Lord's Kitchen. I opted to go with a regular cheeseburger because I wanted a full meal of fries and a drink and looking back now, I should maybe have gotten a specialty burger instead. The toppings that came on this burger were all the average things that you would expect from a burger place and it didn't taste like they were high quality, now they did not taste like they were of bad quality, just an average kind of taste. The meat, which I feel like should be the thing that you should take pride on, was bland. It honestly tasted to me like a burger that one may find at a drive thru like Burger King or Wend

Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings Nationwide Cheese Curd Bacon Burger Wisconsin White Cheddar Cheese Curds, American Cheese, Bacon, Mayo, Chipotle BBQ Seaning, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles on a Challah Bun $12.49 While I went to B-Dubbs to get some wings, I saw this burger and couldn't help myself from getting it and talking about it, because boy do I love cheese curds. The cheese curds at Buffalo Wild Wings (if you haven't had them) are AWESOME. I find myself always getting them as an appetizer, so as far as throwing them on top of a burger...well it is a great alternative to a regular cheese (even though this burger has both). I loved the white Wisconsin cheddar flavor for this. The regular cheese was pretty bland, but takes a backseat to the curds and could honestly be left off if desired. The bacon was chewier than I would have liked. While it is not as bad as the bacon that I had last week, you can tell that it is just some mass produced frozen bacon that

Grub Burger Bar

Grub Burger Bar Nationwide Lockhart Legend Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce, 2 Hand-Battered Onion Rings, & Sliced Dill Pickles $8.99 I got this burger because as soon as I saw the "Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce" my mind snapped back to the #1 burger that I have found on my hunt (Snuffers) and thought that Grub may have recreated that sauce and it may have a similar taste. While I was wrong on that, I wasn't disappointed. Starting with the sauce, the sauce was good and it MIGHT have had a certain Dr. Pepper flavor, I couldn't really tell very much, but it was NOWHERE near as good as the other Dr. Pepper sauce that I had. But let me reiterate, it was still a fine sauce and was great on the burger. The bacon was good, it was a bit thick but since it had a lot of flavor, it balanced out the thickness that I am usually unaccustomed to. I honestly could not taste the cheddar cheese at all. I think cheddar is always the best call

Whistle Stop Cafe

Whistle Stop Cafe Conroe, TX First Class Burger Swiss Cheese, Avocado, Grilled Onions, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, Mayo, & Mustard $10 While the name may be "First Class" Burger, I think that this burger has a little bit of work ahead of it if it wants to live up to that name. The Whistle Stop Cafe seems like a nice, quaint little cafe that seemed to have a bunch of regulars, but if I had to guess they were there for the country style menu of chicken fried steaks, chicken 'n' dumplings, & pork chops. Not the burgers. First of all, this burger had WAY too much going on. This was like a party that gets too big and gets shut down because of all the noise. Because it had so much on it, the bread was hard to hold everything and ended up getting soggy and falling apart before I could finish, so hard to give points there. I will say that before, the bread was pretty good in flavor and soft. The other negative things I found with this burger

Honey Bee Ham & Deli

Honey Bee Ham & Deli The Woodlands, TX 1/3 Pound Burger Black Angus Beef, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, & Onion on Jalapeno Bun $5.99 Now while I only gave this burger 3 stars, it is purely for the fact that this establishment doesn't dabble in burgers of creativity, striving to only provide the best basic burgers that they can, and honestly, they do it pretty well. I will skip the toppings as they only have the basic toppings that you can get everywhere and will go straight to my favorite part of the burger, the delicious bun. Now I have had a lot of jalapeno buns since starting this blog, but this one may have been my favorite. It was incredibly flavorful, soft, and was so big that even thought I only got a 1/3 pound burger, I was pretty full after eating. This place serves a variety of sandwiches along with their burgers, and I think that the jalapeno bun would be great for every single one. The meat was so so. When I took it out of the wrapper, it did st

Uncle Tony's Burgers

Uncle Tony's Burgers Spring, TX Rattlesnake Cheeseburger Angus Beef mixed with Special Spicy Pork Sausage, Diced Onions, Chopped Jalapenos on Jalapeno Cheddar Sourdough Bun with Lettuce, Onions, Pickles, Tomato, & Muenster Cheese $12.50 As if I didn't already have my fill of spicy burgers in the past few weeks, I decided to hit it out of the park with another delectably tasty spicy burger from Uncle Tony's. Uncle Tony's Burgers claim to fame is their specialty Rattlesnake Cheeseburgers (which if you didn't read in the description) is a burger patty mixed with spicy pork sausage (hot), diced onions, & chopped jalapenos (more hot) in which they slap in between a jalapeno cheddar bun (just in case you wanted more hot). This is such a great idea and great burger for those who are fans of spiciness and should be tried immediately. As far as a breakdown of said burger, we should start with it's main attraction, the meat. The meat is so fla

Walden War-Tejas Cafe

Tejas Cafe (Mariel's Deli) & (Walden Market) Montgomery, TX Tejas Burger Cheese, Jalapenos, Onions, Cilanto & Chipotle Mayo on a Jalapeno Bun (with Ketchup at Tejas Cafe Walden Market) $7 For this week, I had a friend recommend me a place to go but when looking up the place, I found that there were two of the same name on the same road and when I couldn't get a hold of said friend, I had a very tough decision to make. I either tried one and hoped it was the right one, or I TRY THEM BOTH. I got both, and therefore we have the War on Walden Road between the Two Tejas Cafes. Now both Tejas Cafes are within Shell gast stations on Walden road, one in the Shell that has "Mariel's Deli" and one that has "Walden Market". Before I start, I can tell there is some skepticism, "You want me to eat gas station food?" Trust me, I had THE SAME THOUGHT before I was led to this place, but holy shit was I wrong. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Ri

Burger Boy

Burger Boy Conroe, TX Big Boy Pepperjack Cheese, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Sliced Jalapenos, Lettuce, Tomato $6.99 While I am giving this burger a 3, I feel like I should give a disclaimer that this is a burger that should ONLY be eaten as a to go burger and not in the restaurant due to a very concerning fly problem. The burger itself did have some good and bad to it. The pepperjack cheese on the burger was probably my favorite part. It was super melted on it and there was so much on it that it engulfed a large portion of the meat which allowed me to have it on almost all of the bites. The grilled onions were also very good, AND they were very gratuitous in the helpings of them. As far as the grilled mushrooms, I did not get them because I don't like mushrooms but if they were anything like the onions, they would probably be good as well. The onions, lettuce, and tomato didn't seem to be anything worthy of note, so there is not much to put on that.

Bar Louie

Bar Louie The Woodlands, TX Bourbon BBQ Burger House-made Bourbon BBQ Sauce, White Cheddar, Cream Cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Crispy Onion Strings $12.50 While I do try my hardest to avoid the national chains in order to give more recognition to the mom and pop burger places out here trying to gain the success of the chains, I have to say, I was pretty blown off my feet by Bar Louie's Bourbon BBQ Burger. (Say that 5 times fast) The most interesting thing about this burger (and one thing I sadly had to dock them a little bit for) was the cream cheese. Cream Cheese on a burger tasted VERY good, I liked it for the first few bites, but then I kept hitting secret pockets of Cream Cheese that in some bites, that was all I was tasting. In moderation, this is an amazing topping to have on a BBQ burger. As we flip to the other cheese on the burger, we had white cheddar. White Cheddar is an excellent choice for a BBQ flavored burger, and while it was melted on to the

Natachee's Supper 'n Punch

Natachee's Supper 'n Punch Houston, TX Rene's Hot Hot Chopped Serrano Peppers and Mushrooms spanked right into our patty and topped with Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomato, Mustard, Mayo, Pickles, & Onions $10.99 For this week, I had the opportunity to go to a really cool place in Downtown Houston called Natachee's Supper 'n Punch. And besides having a really fun name, they also have some quality burgers! To be honest, the most interesting burger on the menu was the Astrodome Burger, but it was a 1/2 patty and I was not hungry at all, so I opted to not go with it and instead go with a burger with spice (which I LOVE). This burger honestly reminded me of the burger that I had a couple months back at Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack but I liked this one a lot more so while they may have the same score, this one is above it in the overall rankings. Bypassing all the usual topping such as the Lettuce, Tomato, Mustard, Mayo, Pickles, & Onions we will start

Dairy Cone

Dairy Cone Columbus, TX Cheeseburger Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles, American Cheese $4.65 A few times a year, I like to go to San Antonio and one thing I have had to come to terms with is that there is not many burger places to find on I-10, but for my latest trip I managed to find one which I can only say had mixed results. Dairy Cone (which is obviously a lazy rip off of Dairy Queen) is a small little burger window shop that has some pretty cheap burgers and looks to specialize in their blue bell ice cream products. I opted to go with a simple cheeseburger because they didn't have many burgers in the terms of creativity. The burger itself was alright. The bun was very soft and was probably one of the best parts of the whole burger. The cheese was super melty and if you got that SMC on the burger, you are going to get bonus points. The veggies were nothing to brag about and the meat itself wasn't very seasoned or very juicy, making it all around meh. I d

Compadre's Texas Cafe

Compadre's Texas Cafe Conroe Compadres Whiskey Mountain Brew Steak Sauce Burger Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Swiss Cheese, Whiskey Steak Sauce, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo, Mustard $10.59 First of all, I hope everyone is doing well during these past few months. Now that MOST food places have opened back up in some capacity, I am trying to get back into the swing of things by bringing you burger content as much I can when I can. While I may not be every week yet, I will try to get you something. This week, I went to a small cafe that is right next to my house. I stumbled on to this place one morning and they have really kick ass breakfasts and while I was there I saw their big list of specialty burgers and knew I needed to get to try one whenever I could. I was however a bit disappointed in the one I picked. While this was not the "most popular" burger that the server had recommended, it was one that I thought sounded very good at the time, so I may be go

Texas Roadhouse

Texas Roadhouse Nationwide All American Cheeseburger American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion $9.49 While in the midst of this coronavirus pandemic, a lot of restaurants are doing as much as they can to survive and keep their employees working and making money and one that immediately stood out to me is Texas Roadhouse. For those of you who haven't heard, Kent Taylor, the CEO of Texas Roadhouse is giving up the rest of his salary for the year in order to help pay the employees at his restaurants. That is a class move, and after reading that, I had to include one of his burgers on the list, even if it is a huge chain. The burger itself wasn't bad! While I always get a steak when I go to Roadhouse, the burger had a pretty solid argument to be a more ordered item. The meat was soft and fell apart with each bit, and had a juiciness and flavor that you could also taste steak, which I assume came from the fact that they probably grilled all the meat on the same gri

JAX Burgers Fries & Shakes

JAX Burgers Fries & Shakes Spring, TX Jax Burger with Cheese Mustard, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Onion, & Cheese $5 With the coronavirus restaurant bans in full effect I am striving to still bring you burgers though all the pictures will come from inside my car, home, or outdoor locations. The first place I opted to get a burger from is JAX Burgers. They started off as a really successful location in Spring that grew into multiple locations as of late. And while they may have a big following, I don't really think I will be one of those. The burger by any means wasn't BAD, it just wasn't what I expected due to all the hype. I opted to go with their regular cheese burger because the cashier said that was the most popular. The veggie toppings were just basic, so nothing to elaborate on there, and the cheese was VERY melted which is great because it gave each bite a warm cheesy taste, which is so much better than a slice of cheese slapped on right befo

Thistle Draftshop

Thistle Draftshop Spring, TX Bleu Burger Bleu Cheese, Smoked Habanero Bacon, Caramelized Beer Onions, Garlic Aioli, Seasame Seed Bun $12 This week the Burger Chase has brought us to a really niche little spot in Spring, TX called the Thistle Draftshop. I'll have to admit, from my first glance at this place, I was a little skeptical of if they would be able to deliver on a good burger, because it seemed like one of those places that were just focused on their craft beers and they just "had food" just to have it there. But I was proven WAY wrong. The burgers here are great. I apologize ahead of time, because I forgot to get a picture of the burger I actually had, so I had to use one that I found online, but rest assured, the burger looks just as good as the one they used for the marketing pic above. Now I am not a big fan of bleu cheese, so I actually had my burger without it, but I am not letting that factor into the score, but who knows, maybe they hav

Black Bear Diner

Black Bear Diner Nationwide Parmesan Sourdough Cheeseburger Dijon Mustard, Swiss Cheese, Tomato, & Grilled Onions on Thick-Crust Sourdough Bread grilled golden with a Garlic Parmesan Cheese Crust $10.99 If you have had the fortune of wandering the new Metropark Square in Conroe, you might have noticed this really cool and interesting new place, called the Black Bear Diner, which is COMPLETELY decked out in Bear stuff. My kids loved everything about it. My fiance loved the breakfast plates. I did not take a loving to the burger. As you can see, the burger actually LOOKS incredible. I was super psyched when reading it, and even more so when it came out, so description and appearance are 5/5, but it's when I tasted it was when the issues started. The meat was probably one of the least favorite meat patties I have had since starting this blog. It was bland and even worse it was tough and chewy. It was almost like chewing a piece of rubber. I was shocked, because

Pappa's BBQ

Pappa's BBQ Nationwide Hamburger Lettuce, Tomato, Onion $9.95 After seeing a good amount of posts about how good the burgers were here and literally driving by it everyday on my way to work, I decided to stop in and see what it was all about. Usually, when I go to a BBQ place, I tend to stick to their BBQ, and while that may change in the future for some BBQ joints, it will remain the same for this one. Starting off, they don't have much variety going on (which is to be expected at a place that doesn't specialize in burgers) offering a basic hamburger, a cheeseburger, or a bacon cheeseburger. Seeing as how I didn't want to be distracted from the meat, I opted with the hamburger. But not having interesting options alone is going to hurt the score. The burger was HUGE. As I write this a couple hours later, I can still feel it sitting in my stomach. You are without a doubt getting a big portion for your money (though for the price, I wouldn't expect

Red Brick Tavern

Red Brick Tavern Conroe, TX Honky-Tonk Burger Topped with Applewood Smoked Bacon, RBT BBQ Sauce, Smoked Gouda Cheese, Grilled Jalapenos, and Crispy Onion Strings $12.50 The next time you find yourself fighting a case at the Montgomery County Courthouse in downtown Conroe, or if you just happen to be in the area, there is a quaint little place that I recommend EVERYONE try out. Personally, I never knew this place existed before happening upon it in a comment on a post for good burgers in the area and upon walking in, I was a little skeptic because it just seemed like a tiny little bar to watch live musicians, but I couldn't have been more wrong. While you definitely can not fit 100 people in the place, you could eat 100 burgers there and never get tired. They had a pretty good selection of burgers and while I was leaning towards trying the one that seemed very Hawaiian, the server let me know that this was by far their most popular and for good reason. To start

The Draft Sports Bar and Grill

The Draft Sports Bar and Grill Magnolia, TX Double Porky Burger Bacon, Smoked Pork, Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion $13 As I returned to my old stomping grounds of FM 1488, I decided to hit a small sports bar that was relatively new called "The Draft". I had always seen very interesting advertisements on Facebook for their crawfish specials (which my fiance loves), but I had never gone to try their food until now, and while I wasn't disappointed, I also don't think I was missing much. The Draft boasts 3 different craft burgers, and while all of them I am sure are good in different ways, the option of having some smoked pork on the burger caught my eyes as one of my Top 10 burgers has pork on it, so I was hoping to hit 2 for 2. The smoked pork was actually VERY good, it probably was my favorite part of the burger but it was in no way as good as Tewbelaux's pork that they put on their burger. The bacon that was on the burger was crispy and was ful

BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse

BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse Nationwide Bistro Burger Applewood Smoked Bacon, Goat Cheese Crumbles, Caramelized Onions, Tomatoes, Spinach, Pickled Red Onions, Roasted Garlic Aioli $13.75 While I really do try to not hit chains (and I feel I have been hitting them more and more lately), I am really glad that I went to this particular chain. BJ's may be more known for a place to go get some good craft beers, but for me, it is now known for a place to get a truly amazing burger! BJ's surprisingly has a pretty good selection of burgers, the server tempted me to select this one, which honestly I might have been more leaning towards anyway just due to the sheer amount of different things it had on it. To put this burger simply, there was a shit ton of flavor explosions happening in my mouth almost to which I didn't know what to give the "good" credit to. But first off, we all know that having Caramelized Onions makes ALMOST any burger better a

The Stadium Bar & Grill

The Stadium Bar & Grill Spring, TX Signature Burger Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, & Onion. $7.99 Went back to basics this week with a burger that had no frills and no thrills and I am sad to report that it didn't have much of anything going on at all. The Stadium in my opinion is more of a place that you want to go to if you want to drink and NOT eat, which is how I know of it, as a popular drinking spot for me years ago but I decided to try them out since they had redone their food menu, and settled on their "Signature Burger". The lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles were the basic toppings that you could find anywhere and therefore was not much to speak about, but hey at least they weren't dried out or anything so I can't fault them there. The issues on this burger were mainly with the meat. The meat was very thick which is most instances would be good, except that when they cooked it, they did not cook it how thick meat should be cook a

Fuddrucker's

Fuddrucker's Nationwide Bourbon Burger Sweet Bourbon Sauce, Smokehouse Bacon, Bourbon Caramelized Onions, Blue Cheese. $7.99 For this week, I thought I would bounce back from the bad burger with a place that since childhood, I always loved burgers from, but this time I thought I would get one of their signature burgers, which I have to say was met with mixed reviews. So before we start, I love Fuddruckers, and I think their regular burgers are probably on par with some places' signature and creative burgers, but when Fuddruckers tries to get creative, that seems to be where things start to go wrong. Sometimes, less is better. The bread (which is the same as a regular burger) is soft and tastes fresh, so there is no negative issues there. The meat (which is also the same as a regular burger) is very flavorful and while it doesn't seem to have much seasoning on it, it is still a great meat. So now, we deviate from the regular burger and it goes down hill

3B's Burger & Beer

3B's Burger & Beer Spring, TX The Bill Burger Grilled Onions, Jalapenos, Cheese, Pickles & BBQ Sauce on Jalapeno Bun. $10.39 Bouncing back from last week's great burger, we have without beating around the bush, a not so great burger. 3B's is actually a place that has been around for awhile, I remember eating there once when I was in high school, and never back, but didn't quite no why, but I feel I do now. Starting with the positive, the burger is quite big, so you will get full, but for $10.39 WITHOUT fries, if the burger wasn't big or good, I would be irate. The grilled onions are actually the best part of the burger, they were cooked very well and honestly I didn't even mind that they piled so many of them on because they distracted me from the rest of the burger. And for the negative, it's pretty much everything else. The jalapenos were stuffed so far on that every bite that I took had at least 3 jalapenos in it, which took aw
